My name is Valentina Bargiacchi. I have had the privilege of working alongside people through their growth and change process for the past 10 years. During this time I have worked for a government community counselling service specialising in addiction and mental health issues and a not-for-profit organisation specialising in concerning and harmful sexual behaviours. I have experience working with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, ages, sexual orientations and lifestyles.
In my private practice I provide a confidential, safe and non-judgmental space for you to explore any thoughts and feelings you might have, which can lead to greater insight and understanding. Together we can work towards solutions to the challenges you face.
My counselling approach is embedded in client-centred practice, which holds the view that people are the experts in their own life. I am also able to integrate other modalities including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), schema therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing. How these modalities are used will depend on your unique experience.
I work with adult individuals experiencing a range of issues – addiction, anxiety, depression, anger, stress, relationships and communication, grief/loss, life changes, and self-esteem/confidence.
I am a member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors, and have regular and ongoing supervision, both of which support me to work in a safe and ethical manner.
Fees are $130 per 50 mins (a sliding scale may be offered according to income if needed)
I look forward to hearing from you.
