I am a registered counsellor who works in Ellerslie. I work with individuals in-person and online.
I am warm and open, offering a confidential and safe space for you to explore what is happening in your life. Our time together will give you a dedicated space to explore thoughts, feelings and life issues and work towards creating strategies to move forward.
I tailor my approach to your needs and also the number of sessions you can attend or can afford. I acknowledge that everyone is different and openly discuss with you the style of counselling you would like. I am able to draw on a variety of approaches including Cognitive Behavioural therapy(CBT), Acceptance and commitment therapy(ACT), Mindfulness, Narrative Therapy and Solution focused approaches.
While I have worked with clients from a range of age groups, I have particular experience working with people between the ages of 15 and 25. I am very comfortable working with clients from all sectors of the rainbow community and I have a particular interest in supporting women of all ages through sexual identity journeys.
Common topics clients bring to counselling include anxiety, low mood, self-harm, self-esteem, trauma, relationships, navigating identity including sexual and gender identities.
I have a Masters of Counselling with the University of Auckland and have membership with the New Zealand Association of Counsellors. I also have a Graduate Diploma in Arts (psychology) which complements my counselling training. I believe my life experiences around fertility, parenting, relationships, sexuality, depression and anxiety enables me to relate to many issues that clients bring to sessions.
