Ellie HancockEllie is currently at capacity. Please contact Fillan Healthcare if you would like to see another clinician.

I am Ellie Hancock, a registered Counsellor working in West and Central Auckland, New Zealand. I have been in private practice since 2014 having previously worked in corporate environment, a primary birthing unit, hospitality, and education.

I provide individuals, couples and group therapy for young children through to older adults with a wide range of emotional and life problems. My interactive, reality-based approach emphasizes forming a trusting relationship to uncover and understand the positive and negative factors in your life. Helping clients to achieve their goals and equip them with more mental and emotional skills so that they can see themselves, others and life with more clarity and from many different perspectives.

Counselling and Eco Therapy

I love the outdoors and like to take my therapy outside, walking, kicking a ball around, or using horses in therapy sessions. These sessions are tailored to suit you and create a unique environment and platform from which to work from with proven results.

My style incorporates active and compassionate listening, collaborative exploration, and a ready sense of humour. This style allows people to feel comfortable working in person with me, as well as by Skype and phone. My patients live in mostly in Auckland Eastern Suburbs and West Auckland, as well as throughout the world.

Before starting my full time practice, I worked with the national phone counselling service Youthline, the main provider of community response to victims of serious crime and trauma Victim Support, and the national domestic abuse charity Shine. I also worked at Primary and Secondary Schools and delivered youth based programmes.

The issues individuals and families sought help for included depression, self-harm, bullying, family separation,  domestic violence, mental and physical illness (including eating disorders), career, bereavement, relationships, anxiety, peer pressure, step families, anger management, boundaries, self-care, personal development, building confidence and self-esteem, academic and sporting performance, alcohol and substance abuse.

A few benefits from counselling sessions are:

  • Learning to express and process emotions in productive and healthy ways
  • Become more assertive by developing confidence
  • Learn what your boundaries are and how to set them
  • Greater self-awareness
  • Resilience
  • Greater overall mental health and wellbeing

I work mostly from the satellite clinic in Avondale, but also offer Skype and phone sessions nationally and internationally. My outdoor sessions usually take place at Victoria Park, Auckland Domain, One Tree Hill, or your local favourite spot. Equine therapy is held in Muriwai, please enquire for further information.
